These times of the year is where all drivers are more vulnerable. Due to the many parties around Christmas, New Year, Easter and public holiday weekends people often are more lax around alcohol. But believe it or not it can also be grandmothers’ Christmas cake, the pudding or the custard, where she gets a bit heavy-handed with the sherry, rum or brandy.
Another hazard on the road is just the traffic density with many coming and going to visit friends and relatives. Patience is needed at these times even when running late. Better late, than dead on time! As the saying goes.
Not enough sleep is another hazard as we try to fit in as much as possible over the break. Remember it is not only your life, but also that of your passengers and other road users who want to live longer than the holidays. Sleep deprivation is a killer. The thing to remember over this time of the year is to be very careful, when driving. It is a time to enjoy safely.
Remember to drive safely over the holiday periods!
