Every year and in every State road authorities run numerous road safety programs. It might be wipe of 5kms, pull over if your feeling fatigue, look after your mates if you see them having a beer. We have programs talking about distractions, mobile phones being top of the list.
All these programs have the best of intentions, but in the end it comes back to personal responsibility. The trouble is common-sense is not very common and respect for the law and other road users is often lacking. Everyone thinks they are invincible and most road users have a much higher opinion of their driving skill than they really have. Most drivers are average, but then put on the hat of irresponsibility.
If we are to improve road safety, everyone needs to do there bit.
